About Us

Since 2009, Foam Brain Games has strived to Make Your Next Game a Critical Hit

The World of Conventions

In 2009, Andrew and a group of his friends were regularly running LARPs at events across the East Coast when they were struck with a desire to expand into other areas of the industry. Quickly, the idea of selling board games and dice at these events was formulated, and Foam Brain Games was born.

Starting with a single 10x10 booth at Connecticon 2009, Foam Brain quickly became a presence at conventions with their vibrant game and dice displays. Within a year, Andrew had quit his job to work on Foam Brain full-time and had started to look at all of the ways he could bring dice and games to events throughout the United States.

Over 1000 conventions later, Foam Brain still strives to bring joy to attendees with fun new products and memorable booths.

A Quest for Innovation

In 2013, Foam Brain Games was the first company to run a kickstarter for metal dice (and one of the first dice Kickstarters!). Our line, Foam Brain Metals was one of the first designs of metal dice available on the market, and was a unique spin on what had existed up until then. Since then, we've run 24 additional Kickstarters and released hundreds of additional products.

In 2018 we produced the first commercially available mystery dice AND mystery metal dice sets with our Mystery Loot™ line of bags. We continue to produce new themed sets and designs.

In 2022 we released Lost Tome of Monsters, our first design of Pinatures™ - the pin that becomes a miniature.

A License to Design

Throughout the past 16 years, Foam Brain has looked for oppertunities to work with amazing brands on fun licensed products. Since 2023 we've released products with Acquistions, Incorporated, Pathfinder, Cyanide & Happiness, Warhammer, Dungeon Crawler Carl, and more.

Meet the Team

Andrew

Chief Executive Officer (He/Him)

Andrew's passion is making cool and innovative dice and manufactured goods. Over the last few years he and his team have created a variety of awesome projects including Lost Tome of Monsters, Mystery Loot, Traveler's Trinkets and Puzzle Cube dice. Originally starting as a convention vendor, in the past 14 years he's attended over 150 conventions and events throughout the country and gotten to bring his love of dice and games to hundreds of thousands of amazing people. His greatest accomplishment is surviving having several hundred metal dice chucked at him for a Kickstarter video.

Mindy

Chief Operating Officer (She/Her)

Mindy is Co-Owner and the COO - You can usually find Mindy taking photos of products for the website, working behind the scenes on projects and ordering MORE DICE! When she's not at work, Mindy is home spoiling her 3 tiny pups, Mork, Spock, and RiverSong, and playing board games with friends.

Shawn

Director of Operations (He/Him)

Shawn started with Foam Brain in 2018 as a Convention Manager and returned post-COVID to don the mantle of Director of Operations! In his downtime, you can find him with his cat, Rei, and he's probably cooking for somebody. He currently enjoys a myriad of gaming options: Pathfinder, D&D, Alien, and Exalted, as well as an extensive board game collection... although video games are his true vice.

Kara

Director of Manufacturing Partnerships (She/Her)

Resident rainbow goth and organizational powerhouse, Kara is now proudly serving as Director of Manufacturing Partnerships at Foam Brain Games. Her passion for structure, creativity, and collaborative problem-solving keeps projects on track and our team thriving! Having honed her skills as the "Customs Queen," handling all your custom pins, coins, dice, and more, she's now bringing the same energy and attention to detail to a broader leadership role.

Kara's passionate enthusiasm for building better systems doesn't end when she's out of the office- she's always looking for ways to improve herself and the world around her. Outside of work, you'll find her watching nature documentaries, checking out local vegan restaurants, engaging in deep conversations about neurodivergence and mental health, designing intricate animal enclosures in Planet Zoo, or using her witchy powers to create useful objects out of pointy sticks and yarn!

Kayla

Art Director (She/Her)

Graphic designer by day, Art wizard by night— she's the creative force behind the visuals at a Foam Brain Games. With a flair for the unconventional, she blends artistry and brand strategy to help make your next game a critical hit!

When she's not conjuring up designs and ideas with the team at Foam Brain, you'll find her painting in her art studio, gardening, or hanging out with her dogs & parrot!

Let's roll the dice (or pick up a paint brush) and explore the realms of design and visual arts together!

April

Art Team (She/Her)

April is a goblin that wandered in off the street and managed to secure a sweet job as a Fulfillment specialist. Little did they know she contained great powers of illustration landing her a seat on the art team! With her additional powers of loving D&D, video games and almost all things nerdy, she has nestled herself right into the Foam Brain family.

Alena

Sales and Events Manager (She/Her)

Hailing from a diverse background in Beekeeping, Culinary Arts, Computer Science, Music, and Electrical Engineering; Alena has done a little bit of everything! Currently residing as our Sales and Events Manager here at Foam Brain, she's excited to put her skills to conquer the world of conventions.

When not at work, Alena can be found painting minis, playing D&D with friends, and trying to befriend local wildlife.

Callie

Sales and Events Manager (She/Her)

Embracer of chaos and local gaming chameleon; Callie is one of our Event and Sales Managers! With a background working in video games (ask about her favorite project!), she's had the opportunity to travel and attend all kinds of events for Foam Brain.

In her free time, she can be found catching up on the newest Neopets plot, trying out some new TTRPGS, binge watching anime, or hanging with her partner Matt and their animal squad; Liffey, Boone, and Tasha!

Mac

Materials Manager (They/Them)

Mac started working at Foam Brain at the end of 2020. Originally just planning on a 2 week project to help get dice on the online store, they ended up staying for quite a bit longer. After mastering getting orders out to customers, and a short side quest into logistics, they settled into their newest position which lets them be the dice goblin of their dreams. When not working, Mac loves to bake, play D&D, watch old sci-fi with their husband, listen to frogs outside, and crochet pride bats for their Etsy page.

Mike M

Materials Specialist (He/Him)

Mike has traveled the world doing everything from building large scale balloon sculptures to working in a bakery. Recently, he's settled in our area working as what he would describe as his dream job; making sure our Mystery Loots are packed and ready to go!

He is a digital artist, so when he's not at work, he's at home drawing and collaborating on projects with friends. He loves games of all kinds, playing music way too loud, and road tripping with his best friend (a little green parrot), Taako.

Dusty

Layout and Development Coordinator (He/Him)

Dusty, like everyone else, is a blob of electrified gray jelly in a bone mech is just trying to make it in the world. He was a convention manager with Foam Brain Games from 2018 through the start of 2020. He returned to the company in 2022 to take on the new and exciting role of Director of Production. He has currently switched gears and is now serving as Layout and Development Coordinator. In his free time he spends too much time with his dog,Hazel the Good Doggo, plays too many games, and enjoys afternoon naps.

Mike L

Production Specialist (He/Him)

Mike, connoisseur of all things graphic arts from historical propaganda to rock show posters also has a love for music and literature.

When he's not working hard in production, you can find him prowling galleries and making something that makes him happy. Or perhaps ensconced in a deep groove. And of course picking things up and putting them down somewhere else, as most dads are prone to do.

Drew

Production Technician (He/Him)

Drew is the father of two; Alex and Andy. He loves everything Sci-fi. When not helping us in Production, he enjoys spending his free time playing video games, watching movies, or building LEGOs with his kids and partner, Jen.

Ashe

Executive Assistant/Convention Specialist (He/Him)

“Did you say you open the door?” - final words before disaster

Dubbed the "Swiss Army Knife" of Foam Brain, Ashe does his best to support the whole team in whatever ways he can. And of course going to conventions and selling probably one million sets of dice (and pins, dice trays, bags; you know the deal).

He’s been playing tabletop RPGs since college and has been a menace as both DM and player ever since. His favorite class is Barbarian and loves running horror-themed campaigns. When he’s not terrorizing his friends; he’s crocheting, playing video games, running around at Renaissance Fairs, or cuddling with his wife Bee and their cats Loki, Shorsey, and Birdie!

Mary

Senior Fulfillment Specialist (He/Him)

After growing up in the Midwest, Mary moved to the region with her partner and three grem--cats, Mogwai, Mischief, and Moonstone. When she's not playing Tetris with dice as a Fulfillment Specialist, she enjoys woodland adventures, reading esoteric nonfiction, and summoning chaos with her friends.

Joel

Senior Fulfillment Specialist (He/Him)

Meet Joel, our resident Order Fulfillment Specialist at FBG! With a love for video games, graphic novels, and all things geeky, Joel brings a fun, vibrant energy to our team. Together, we're on a mission to deliver top-notch service to businesses far and wide!

Bee

Fulfillment Support (They/Them)

Bee is a digital and traditional artist who loves sorting and organizing. They are absolutely thriving while supporting our fulfillment team!

When they're not making sure every dice cube is labeled and filled with our amazing dice sets, or packing Mystery loots, they can be found talking somebody's (usually their husband's) ear off about vampires, cowboys, or ancient civilizations.
