Art Director

Foam Brain Games is seeking an experienced and highly creative Art Director to lead the visual identity of our company and help shape the future of our brand.

This is a hands-on creative leadership role responsible for maintaining and evolving the visual look of Foam Brain Games across products, packaging, marketing materials, conventions, advertising, wholesale materials, and digital media. The Art Director works closely with company leadership and collaborates with artists, product developers, sales staff, the company admin and marketing teams to ensure a cohesive and recognizable brand experience.

The ideal candidate is both a strategic thinker and a skilled designer—someone who can develop the creative vision for a project and also execute the work necessary to bring that vision to life.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and maintain the overall visual identity of Foam Brain Games
  • Design logos, branding systems, packaging, catalogs, convention materials, advertisements, and promotional assets.
  • Create and oversee visual assets for social media, email marketing, websites, and digital campaigns.
  • Collaborate on the creation of promotional videos, advertising assets, and other digital content as needed.
  • Provide creative direction and feedback to artists and designers.
  • Collaborate with leadership on new product launches, licensed products, and company initiatives.
  •  Establish and maintain brand standards across all departments and customer-facing materials.
  • Review artwork and creative assets to ensure consistency, quality, and effectiveness.
  •  Stay current on design trends and identify opportunities to strengthen the Foam Brain Games brand
  • Assist with product design projects including pins, stickers, packaging, collectibles, and other merchandise as needed.

Project Management & Communication

Success in this role requires strong organizational and communication skills in addition to creative talent. The Art Director serves as a key partner to multiple departments and must be able to manage priorities, communicate effectively, and keep projects moving forward.

The ideal candidate will:

  • Communicate project status, timelines, and potential delays proactively.
  • Manage multiple projects and competing priorities while meeting deadlines.
  • Collaborate effectively with leadership, product development, sales, conventions, and manufacturing teams.
  • Provide clear direction and constructive feedback to artists and designers.
  • Maintain organized project files and documentation.
  • Take ownership of projects from concept through final production.
  • Identify potential obstacles early and work collaboratively to find solutions
  • Balance creativity with business objectives, production requirements, and deadlines

Qualifications

Required:

  • Advanced proficiency in Adobe Illustrator. 
  • Strong Adobe Photoshop skills.
  • Experience developing and maintaining visual brand identities.
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating branding, marketing, and design work.
  • Strong understanding of typography, color theory, composition, and visual communication.
  • Demonstrated project management and organizational skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Ability to prioritize work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple deadlines simultaneously.
  • Experience collaborating across departments and working with leadership to achieve project goals.

Preferred:

  • Packaging design experience.
  • Motion graphics experience.
  • Experience leading or mentoring creative teams.
  • Experience in consumer products, hobby gaming, collectibles, retail merchandise, or related industries.
  • Familiarity with tabletop gaming and geek culture.
  • Product design experience.
  • Experience with video editing, motion graphics, or digital content creation.

Compensation:

$63,000 to $75,000
